Daria Dodon, a master’s student of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology PNU, has been selected for participation in the IOCB’s Summer Student Program (SSP 2024), which is organized by the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IOCB Prague). The Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry is a leading research institution in the Czech Republic, whose mission is to conduct basic research at the interface of chemical and biological sciences and to transform the results of basic research into applied developments and commercial assets.
The IOCB Summer Student Program is designed to provide students with an interesting and meaningful work experience, an opportunity to expand their professional networks, and to develop their skills and competencies by receiving valuable feedback from experienced scientists of the Institute.
As a result of the competitive selection in 2024 (SSP 2024), our student Daria became a member of the research group of Dr. Edward Curtis, who specializes in the functional potential of nucleic acids. The first goal of Dr. Curtis’ research group is to create functional nucleic acids that can be used for practical applications. The second goal is to characterize the functional potential of non-canonical nucleic acid structures, such as G-quadruplexes. The training will be сonducted at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (Prague) in July – August 2024. Accommodation and tuition costs are covered by the Program.
