Internship for students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tübingen

Two students of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences – third-year student Myroslava Polozhentseva and master’s graduate Daria Dodon – have successfully completed a three-month internship at the University of Tübingen (Germany).

During their internship, they conducted a study aimed at analyzing the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on gene expression in the mouse brain. As part of the project, the students mastered modern bioinformatics methods for analyzing RNA sequencing results at the level of individual cells. This research work was made possible by scholarships provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as part of the program “Ukraine Digital: Ensuring Academic Success in Times of Crisis“.

The results of the study contribute to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and are an important step in the professional development of young researchers. The experience gained during the internship will be valuable in further research and career in biotechnology and bioinformatics. This example is a clear indication of how international cooperation expands opportunities for Ukrainian students, despite the challenges of today.
